Hepcvel is a combination of two antiviral medications Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. This is a prescription medicine that is used in the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is used along with other medicine to prevent the spreading of HCV. It is used in adults and children of 6 years of age or older whose weight is 17 kgs.  It must be taken in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Sofosbuvir belongs to a class of antiviral nucleotide hepatitis virus (HCV) NS5B polymerase inhibitors. Velpatasvir is in a class of antiviral medications called HCV NS5A replication complex inhibitors. It boosts your immune system and improves your health. It reduces the amount of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. This medicine helps to stop the multiplication and spreading of the virus in the body. It improves your condition.

What are Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir drugs used for?

Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir drugs are sold under the brand name Epclusa.  It is manufactured in India by Cipla Limited. The combinations of sofosbuvir and velpatasvir are used for the treatment of the chronic hepatitis C virus. It is a viral infection of the liver. It may cause liver cirrhosis and sometimes liver damage. It is used in adults and children of 6 years of age or older whose weight is 17 kgs. Sofosbuvir belongs to a class of antiviral medications called nucleotide polymerase inhibitors. Velpatasvir is in a class of antiviral medications called HCV NS5A replication complex inhibitors. What is a Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection?

The Hepatitis C virus is inflammation of the liver. Inflammation causes swelling of the liver which leads to damage to tissues in the body. This may damage your organs. It is a long-term condition. Symptoms of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) 

Most people are infected with the hepatitis C virus but have no symptoms. Some people with acute hepatitis C infection may have symptoms exposed within 1 to 3 months. These symptoms may include:

Dark yellow urine

Tiredness

Gray or clay-colored stools

Joint pain

The combination of both antiviral medications sofosbuvir and velpatasvir comes as a tablet and pills to take by mouth. It is taken with or without food once a day for 12 weeks. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor. You are not allowed to crush, chew or break the medicine. Swallow it as a whole. Drink plenty of water. Do not miss the dose. If you miss a dose skip the missed dose and follow your schedule regularly on the next day. Do not double the dose. Take medicine every day on time as prescribed by your doctor. Many other medicines can affect this medicine so let your doctor know all medications you are using during the treatment.
