Revolade 25 mg Tablet contains salt called Eltrombopag. It belongs to the group of medicines called thrombopoietin receptor agonists. It is used to treat patients with low platelet counts as a result of chronic immune thrombopoietin or chronic hepatitis C virus infection. It is used in combination with other drugs to treat conditions such as severe aplastic anemia.
Is Eltrombopag a chemotherapy drug?
Eltrombopag is sold under the brand name Promacta. It is manufactured in India by Glaxo Smithkline Pharmaceuticals Limited. This medication is used to treat low platelet levels in people who have a certain blood disorder called chronic immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) or who have chronic hepatitis C. It may be used to treat people with a certain blood disorder ( Aplastic anemia). It decreases the risk of bleeding by increasing the number of platelets. Eltrombopag acts like a certain natural substance that causes the body to produce platelets. It is used in adults and children 2 years of age and older. It is in a class of medications called thrombopoietin receptor agonists. It works by causing the cells in the bone marrow to produce more platelets.

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura is a common bleeding disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets, which are necessary for normal blood clotting. It can happen in children and adults.
