Short answer
Aprepitant is an NK1 receptor antagonist anti-emetic used for preventing nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. Towada Products exports it from New Delhi, India, supplying Aprecap in the 125mg strength to licensed buyers in Southeast Asia, the CIS region, the Middle East and select markets in Europe and Africa. Pricing is on enquiry.
Aprepitant is a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist. It blocks the action of substance P in the brain's vomiting centre, a pathway that is particularly important in the delayed nausea and vomiting that follows chemotherapy.
It is approved, in combination with a 5-HT3 antagonist and a corticosteroid, for preventing acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with highly emetogenic chemotherapy, such as cisplatin-based regimens, and with moderately emetogenic chemotherapy, in adults and children. A separate low-strength capsule is approved in the United States for post-operative nausea and vomiting. The originator brand is Emend.
Oral aprepitant is commonly supplied as a three-day pack containing one 125mg capsule and two 80mg capsules; our catalog lists the 125mg presentation, so tell us whether you need single capsules or the pack. Granisetron and ondansetron, 5-HT3 antagonists used with aprepitant, are also in our catalog. Aprepitant interacts with some medicines through the liver enzyme CYP3A4, which prescribers check. The capsules are kept at room temperature, and oncology day-care units are the main buyers.
Aprepitant is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
