About cabozantinib: drug class and approved uses

Cabozantinib is an oral multikinase inhibitor. It blocks MET, AXL and the VEGF receptors, signalling pathways involved in tumour growth, spread and blood-vessel formation.

Cabozantinib tablets (originator brand Cabometyx) are approved for advanced renal cell carcinoma, alone or with nivolumab as first-line treatment; for hepatocellular carcinoma in patients previously treated with sorafenib; and for locally advanced or metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer that has progressed after VEGF-targeted therapy and is refractory to radioactive iodine. A separate capsule formulation (Cometriq) is approved for medullary thyroid cancer.

The tablets and the capsules are different products and are not substituted for one another, so tell us which form you need. Our catalog lists cabozantinib tablets from Indian manufacturers. Related medicines in our oncology catalog include sunitinib, pazopanib, lenvatinib and sorafenib. Cabozantinib is kept at room temperature and ships without a cold chain. Kidney and liver cancer centres are the usual buyers.

Cabozantinib is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
