Short answer
Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor chemotherapy medicine used for small cell lung cancer and testicular cancer. Towada Products exports it from New Delhi, India, supplying Lastet in the 50mg strength to licensed buyers in Southeast Asia, the CIS region, the Middle East and select markets in Europe and Africa. Pricing is on enquiry.
Etoposide is a semi-synthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin. It inhibits topoisomerase II, an enzyme that untangles DNA during cell division, leaving breaks in the DNA of dividing cells.
It is approved, in combination with other medicines, as first-line treatment of small cell lung cancer and for refractory testicular tumours. In clinical practice and in some national labels it is also used in lymphomas, leukaemias, gestational trophoblastic tumours and some childhood cancers. Etoposide is on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. Originator brands include Vepesid and Etopophos.
Etoposide is available as an intravenous concentrate and as oral capsules, which are not interchangeable milligram for milligram, so state the form you need. Our catalog lists a 50mg product. It is handled under cytotoxic safe-handling procedures. Carboplatin, often combined with etoposide in small cell lung cancer, and cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin are also in our catalog. Check the storage condition on the brand you order; the capsules of some brands are refrigerated.
Etoposide is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
