Short answer
Valsartan (and sacubitril with valsartan) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used for high blood pressure and heart failure, and, combined with sacubitril, chronic heart failure. Towada Products exports it from New Delhi, India, supplying Diovan and Vymada (1 single-ingredient product in the 80mg strength and 2 combinations) to licensed buyers abroad. Pricing is on enquiry.
Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), which lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of angiotensin II on the AT1 receptor. In the combination sacubitril with valsartan, sacubitril adds inhibition of neprilysin, the enzyme that breaks down natriuretic peptides; the pair is called an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI).
Valsartan alone (originator brand Diovan) is approved for hypertension, for heart failure, and to reduce cardiovascular death after a heart attack in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. Sacubitril with valsartan (Entresto) is approved for chronic heart failure in adults, in Europe for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and in the United States more broadly, with the clearest benefit below normal ejection fraction. It is also approved for heart failure in children.
Our catalog lists valsartan tablets and sacubitril with valsartan tablets in two strengths. The two are not interchangeable, so state which product and strength you need. Sacubitril with valsartan is not taken together with an ACE inhibitor. The tablets are kept at room temperature and ship without a cold chain.
Valsartan is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
