Short answer
Denosumab is a RANK ligand inhibitor monoclonal antibody used for osteoporosis (60mg) and prevention of bone complications of cancer and giant cell tumour of bone (120mg). Towada Products exports it from New Delhi, India, supplying 5 brands, including Denosurel, Esentra and Prolia, in 60mg/ml and 120mg strengths to licensed buyers abroad. Pricing is on enquiry.
Denosumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds RANK ligand, a protein that activates osteoclasts, the cells that break down bone. Blocking it reduces bone resorption.
Denosumab is supplied as two different products. The 60mg prefilled syringe (originator brand Prolia) is approved for postmenopausal osteoporosis at high risk of fracture, osteoporosis in men, glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, and bone loss from hormone ablation for prostate or breast cancer. The 120mg vial (Xgeva) is approved for preventing skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastases from solid tumours and in multiple myeloma, for giant cell tumour of bone, and for hypercalcaemia of malignancy that does not respond to bisphosphonates. Biosimilars of both are approved.
The two strengths are not interchangeable, and they are used by different specialists, so state which one you need. Denosumab is stored refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C and ships in temperature-controlled packaging. Zoledronic acid and ibandronic acid, bisphosphonates used for similar purposes, and teriparatide are also in our catalog. Tell us the brand, strength and quantity when you enquire.
Denosumab is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
