About infliximab: drug class and approved uses

Infliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that binds tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), blocking a key driver of inflammation in many immune-mediated diseases.

It is approved for moderate to severe Crohn's disease, including fistulising disease, and ulcerative colitis, in adults and children; for rheumatoid arthritis together with methotrexate; and for ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and severe plaque psoriasis. The originator brand is Remicade, and many biosimilars, including Indian biosimilars, are approved; a subcutaneous form is also available in some countries.

Intravenous infliximab is supplied as powder in 100mg vials, given by infusion in hospital or clinic, and stored refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C, so shipments travel in temperature-controlled packaging. Patients are screened for tuberculosis and hepatitis B before treatment. Gastroenterology and rheumatology departments are the main buyers. Adalimumab, etanercept and tofacitinib are also in our catalog. State the brand and number of vials when you enquire.

Infliximab is a prescription medicine, and whether it is suitable for a patient is a decision for the treating doctor. This page describes the medicine for trade buyers; it is not medical advice.
